BIOGRAPHY

Though a newcomer to the world of novel writing, Dave Liberati’s personal and professional experiences have provided a sound foundation for launching into the world of literary fiction. With over 30 years of experience as a practicing attorney, Dave Liberati is no stranger to the written word. But it’s the story of his own life that has inspired him to walk the storytelling path.

Dave was born on October 6, 1956 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Dominic and Dorothy Liberati. A lover of athletics, Dave was a three sport athlete at Ohio’s Bellaire High School, and went on to play football at Brown University his freshman year. Throughout his lifetime, Dave Liberati coached numerous youth sports—baseball, girls’ softball and basketball, and boys’ basketball. He was a junior high school football coach from 1983 to 2003. He served as both a high school football referee for nine years and local track official. In addition, he was a founding member of the Bellaire High School Sports Foundation and served as its president for a number of years. While at Brown, Dave was a sportswriter for the Brown Daily Herald, covering freshman football and varsity basketball. Dave even had the honor of interviewing another famous Brown alum, legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

After Brown, Dave entered The Ohio State University College of Law. Today, he is a partner in the Law Office of Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP. Dave also works in the office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Belmont County, Ohio, where he is Chief of the Civil Division.

Dave has been active in a number of civic organizations. He was a founding member of the Bellaire-Shadyside Rotary Club, having twice served as its president. He was also a two-time president of the Bellaire High School Alumni Association.  He is General Counsel for Habitat for Humanity of Belmont County, and an admissions volunteer for Brown.

Dave and his wife, Denise, have been married for 38 years. They have four children—Gina, Jennifer (JJ), Dominic and Rita.

Today, Dave enjoys golf and running. He has completed several half marathons over the years as well as the Columbus Marathon in 2013 and 2015. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
